Shawn's 41st birthday

Today was my 41st birthday. I had the day off – an office perk, and Beth took the day off so we could spend the day together. The day started off with Beth and I going to the Subaru dealer in Waldorf to get my oil changed. We had to be there at 7:30am – much to early for the both of us. We don’t even get up that early on a workday.  Anyway, we managed to make it to the dealer by 7:35am. Got the car checked in and walked over to IHOP for some breakfast.

Beth had Pecan Swirl Crumb Cake Pancakes, and a glass of Apple Juice.  I had my usual which is a Belgian Waffle, topped with Warm Cinnamon Apples and Whipped Cream, a glass of Orange Juice, and we shared an order of Bacon.

After breakfast, we walked back t the dealership but the car was not ready, so we walked over to Sams Club, wandered around a bit and then back to the dealership. About another 30min and the car was all done. We paid the bill and headed back home.

Since we didn’t shower before going to the dealer we took showers when we got home, watched a little tv and left back out around 12:45pm.  We stopped by the post office to pick up a package Mommom (Ruth) mailed from Florida – Christmas gifts for the kids we presume, and then made our way to our friends house (Greg & Debbie) to meet them for lunch.

We went to Hooters in Waldorf.  The wings are awesome!  Wednesday’s are 10 wings and a huge beer or soda (I got soda – don’t like beer) for $5.  We had 5 orders of wings, a mini-burger appetizer, and some fries.  Greg & Debbie picked up the tab since it was my birthday – Thanks Guys!

It was starting to get late and we had to pick up Shaina from school as she had stayed late for choir practice.  As we pulled up into the school parking lot, I noticed the gas pedal felt a little weird.  We were moving, but the pedal felt hard to push.  After Shaina got into the van, we started to leave but heard a loud pop noise from under the dash.  Turns out, the throttle cable had snapped.

We were a little worried, as we needed to get home and get Christopher to his Holiday Program in which he was singing in one of the choirs.  We called Lil Shawn who was at the house, and had him jump in our truck and come get us.  Meanwhile, I had the other Mommom (Carolyn) pick Chris up and take him to his school

We ended up leaving the van in the school parking lot.  I’ll have to work on getting it towed tomorrow.

All in all… it was a typical day in the Stafford household, and also my Birthday.  We plan to have cake and ice cream later…..
