You know, unless you're one of the rich fat-cats sitting atop a government bail-out (another sore subject with me), our country's economic situation is taking it's toll on everyone. Depending on your individual situation, that toll could be a small inconvenience to all out bankruptcy. Either way, I cannot fathom the idea of killing myself or my family over it. I just can't believe people are out there killing themselves and their families over monetary losses. Honestly, if you base your life and well being on how much money you have in the bank, something is really wrong. I guess you could blame it on humanity itself and how we govern and structure our societies, but you/we have to be stronger than that. Where is it written that in order for life to exist and prosper, you have to have a crap load of money, cars, homes, yachts, fame and who knows what else, to be happy? Yes, having money is a nice thing and tends to make life easier, but it's not and should not be the foundation of life itself.
The joy and happiness in my life comes FROM the love and appreciation of my family & friends. The fact I wake up in the morning is enough for me. I guess some people just don't see it that way. Simply put, it's like someone gives you the ultimatum.... lose your material things or die, and there are people out there choosing to die. Not only are they choosing to die, they are taking others with them. I JUST DONT GET IT! What kind of person does this? Don't get me wrong, I fully believe I'd be capable of killing someone if had to protect myself or my family, but killing your entire family because you may lose your house, car or whatever is ridiculous.
I could go on and on about this, but it still wouldn't make sense to me. Statistically, I wonder if you looked up 100 random murder cases, how many of them would be motivated by monetary gains or losses. I think our society and way of life need a major overhauling. I doubt it'll happen in my lifetime, but you never know. I guess I'm just venting, but that's what blogs are for.. right!
