Cell Phone Companies Suck...

Ok.. I'm writing this because I'd hate to have someone else fall into this little trap... and...... cell phone companies just plain suck. Looks like they'll use whatever tactic they can to get more money out of people.

Last month on Nov 7th, I purchased two new Verizon cell phones for Beth and I. I got the new DROID and Beth got the ALIAS2. My phone came with a $100 rebate and Beth's phone came with a $50 rebate.

As with all cell phone companies, they give you 30 days to try out the new device before being stuck with it. The catch is though, you can't send in the rebate till after you've decided to keep the phones or until the 30 days is up.

Being the creatures of habit we are when it comes to cell phones, we used the entire 30 days to play with the new phones. This now puts us at Dec 7th. Well, Beth and I went to the Keys the week of Dec 7th to celebrate my birthday. The idea was to send in the rebates when we returned.

We returned from our vacation on Dec 14th. On Dec 15th, my first day back at work, I went to fill out and mail in the rebates for the phones just to find out all mailed rebates needed to be post dated by Dec 12th.  Am I wrong  to think 5 days past the 30 day test period is a ridiculous timeline for sending in the rebates?

As you can guess... I was pretty hot about not getting my $150 back. Luckily, my wife is soooo soooo resourceful we were able to... how can I say.... circumvent our little dilemma. We're getting our rebates now, but for all of you looking to get new phones.... Make sure to send those rebates before the expiration date.

On a side note... We both love our new phones!
