Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year. It’s very busy and chaotic, but definitely a good time for everyone. …
This year for Christmas, Christopher made each of us a picture collage. He did an awesome job.
“The Tour of Insanity”

Welcome on this wonderful day
To our home and family that’s quite insane
To bring you into this crazy loop
Let me try to introduce this group
We’ll start off with the father
Who we all love to bother
Obsessed with the neat
But wouldn’t miss a beat
To resort to violence
To teach you of silence
Next we have the mom
Who’s only blood related to some
But nevertheless
We all agree she’s the best
We wouldn’t know what to do
Without her to be the family’s glue
Introducing the boss of us kids
She makes her grand entrance with… baby bottle lids?
Remember she’s not just a sister and daughter
But now also a brand new mother
There’s now an addition to this lot
Poor thing doesn’t know what kinda mommy she’s got
There is another we all know
Just from his ever-present music and afro
Always willing to make someone laugh
The first to be down for a game of StarCraft
And though he couldn’t be with us today
Our love goes out to him anyway
The next one I’ll tell you all about
“Chin Up”

Geek, dweeb, dork, nerd
Weirdo, lame-o, bama, terd
The list goes on, this I swear
I mean, I haven’t even mentioned the hair
I could always talk about the monstrous head
Or the sweat suit he refuses to shed
How about that ginormous toe?
I’m scared that thing might continue to grow
Can’t forget about them pearly whites
Or the breath that at any second could ignite
But of course you know I’m playing
Because this image that I’m portraying
Isn’t even the real you
(Although some of it is true)
As you continue to grow
You’ll face all kinds of lows
And your last worry
Will be anything from family
So hold your (big) head high
And continue to try
At your very own pace
As you find your place
In this world so wide
Chin up with pride

“Conversation of Kin”

You’ve always been an understanding guy
One I could never even lie
To because it was pointless
I’m hopeless
As you leave me defenseless
Without even trying
‘Cause you’re not buying
Any of my deflections
So much for protection
From the world outside
I let you inside
Share my hopes and dreams
There till the sun starts to beam
So many nights we stay awake
Swapping stories of heartache
Frustration and other mistakes
We didn’t want to partake in
Just a common conversation between kin
You’re a lot more
Than a brother to ignore
In you I can confide
Confident you will push aside
Any prejudice and guide
Me as best as you may
Always there to provide
Brotherly love any day

“Sisterhood”

You are the sis
I can’t help but miss
As you now live on your own
I can only reminisce
Of past bliss
Since now we’re both grown
I feel the existence
Of the distance
That even reaches our minds
Without resistance
Or persistence
Our relationship has become confined
My resolution
Is to find a solution
To fix what has fallen apart
It is done
Bring out the fun
Let’s make a new start
As the New Year begins
Let’s wear our grins
The time is now
We must allow
Our hearts to open
And only then
We possibly could
Enjoy an awesome sisterhood

“Without You”

In the background
You can be found
Quietly filling that special space
Silently offering your motherly embrace
No one can replace
Your loving kindness
We forget to appreciate
But you have great
Patience
We come to you
As our adolescence
Weighs us down
And we drown
In our torment
Until you calm the torrent
Of wild emotions
With your endless devotion
Putting us first,
You see us at our worst
And although
We don’t always show
How much you mean
To us teens
Just know
Deep in your heart
That without you
This family would fall apart

“The Truth”

You don’t want to break their hearts
The truth would only tear them apart
How tough to be
Living in secrecy
But I’ve known from the very start
The four of them wouldn’t even guess
What on earth you’d have to confess
You put on a show
But of course I know
And I’d understand their sadness
I know it will be hard to sit
And listen as they throw a fit
But you know what to do
It’s time they knew
That of all us kids, I’m your favorite!

Shaina wrote these poems as Christmas gifts to the family!
